Anansi Stories: Six Exciting Escapades of Anansi

Anansi’s Stories, Six Exciting Escapades of Anansi, features six new stories about the well-loved West African folk hero.
In the author’s second collection of illustrated Anansi’s Stories, Anansi uses his wit and cunning to outwit powerful animals like the Leopard, and also Nana Nyankopong, the Sky God. This leads the spider on a series of extraordinary adventures.
Inspired by South African rock art, Adolika Nenah Sowah’s illustrations represent a significant departure from the traditional depiction as a pot-bellied, out-of-shape man often past his prime. In this book, Anansi is agile, always on the go, and full of life.

The six tales in this second collection are very different from those in the first book, which were popular versions sourced exclusively from Accra, the capital of Ghana. This time, the collection of the six lesser-known stories is sourced from the outskirts of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. These stories are darker, edgier, and more open-ended than the stories in the first collection.

These exciting escapades retold and beautifully illustrated by the award-winning author and illustrator, Adolika Nenah Sowah, are sure to make you hold your breath till the very end.
